Paul North joins ENCON trustees

  • News

Paul North, currently chair of Sandford St Martin and Ledwell parish council has joined ENCON as a trustee and board member. Paul and his family converted an old barn in Ledwell and moved to the area in 2003.  The barn is a listed building, and the conversion started his interest in local heritage, heritage assets and conservation.  He spent his career working in financial services, working around the world, working in technology, product development and business strategy.  He retired from full-time work in 2019,  and now supports a number of start-up companies and other projects.

Paul joined the parish council for Sandford St Martin and Ledwell in 2021 and is currently the chairman of the council.  As a member of council, he is involved in a number of projects.  These include engaging with the Mullin Motor Museum community forum, OCC Highways on local roads and road safety, and OCC and local parishes on flooding and flood prevention.  He has also been supporting a local charity, FarmAbility, helping raise funds and develop on-going funding.

The appointment boosts ENCON trustee numbers to five with Paul joining recent trustees Mary Curnock Cook and Nigel Roby. Chair of ENCON, Hamish Laing, said:

"ENCON are really pleased to welcome Paul North as a trustee.  Paul has lived in Ledwell for over 20 years, and is now Chair of Sandford & Ledwell Parish Council.  He has been actively engaged in the Mullin community Forum where he has made a fantastic contribution to mitigating the potential impacts of this major development. Paul has a keen interest in the environment and ecology,  while also having very good ideas about how ENCON can work with local Parish Councils to help preserve the heritage of our villages.   We really look forward to working with Paul."
