Encon backs wildflower project
ENCON was delighted to make a £200 grant to Enstone Eco to support their work planting wildflowers at the crossroads of the Banbury Road (B4030) and the Great Tew Road (B4022). As Enstone Eco points out, ‘wildflower meadows are crucial ecosystems, and nurturing them in our parish brings many benefits to both the environment and the community. These meadows not only provide important habitats for wildlife but also contribute to improving soil health and storing carbon’.
Wildflower meadows have been under relentless pressure and over 97% have been lost in the UK. The scale of loss can feel overwhelming but projects like this can make a small but significant difference in turning the tide. The aim for both organisations is to restore biodiversity in our local area. Spaces like these will attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators while adding natural beauty for everyone to enjoy.
"This funding has made it possible for us to create the wildflower meadow on the corner of the Bicester and Banbury roads just outside Church Enstone. As we mention in our blog, we are very grateful to ENCON for this funding because we simply couldn’t do it without such support."
Our congratulations to Ian Cave and the Enstone Eco team & volunteers for all their hard work establishing the first stage of the meadow and its counterpart in St. Kenelm’s churchyard. You can read more about the project on the Enstone Eco website
